Our Verdict:

Ladbrokes is your definition of the betting site that covers all bases.

It’s almost flawless on the betting side of things with all the major sports offered, and endless markets to choose from, ranging from the mainstream ones to plenty of specials, handicaps and player-focused markets. Their odds are very competitive and thanks to a few Bet Boosts, you can sometimes find they’re top price on certain bets.

As you’d expect, the Live Betting product is top-class with lots to bet on, in-play odds quickly updated and a fine Livestreaming service available to allow you to watch many of the events you’re betting on, straight from your laptop or mobile app.

If that’s the betting side of things taken care of, then the customer experience is just as smooth with excellent Customer Experience to look after you, a quick and responsive mobile app and plenty of payment options to pick from. Not to mention lots of frequent, varied and good-value promotions to look out for.

A somewhat average welcome offer shouldn’t stop you from considering Ladbrokes one of the best all-round betting sites on the UK market.

Intro

Ladbrokes has been taking bets from customers since 1886, albeit under a slightly different name, and as Ladbrokes since 1902.

Over the next 100 plus years, it’s become synonymous with gambling in the UK. First as one of the leading bricks-and-mortar chains of betting shops and then in the online market, also enjoying a legacy as owner of land casinos, hotels and other business ventures.

Even though its land-based businesses are still going strong, it’s in the online world that they’ve really kicked on with a website offering all the major betting products and the superb Ladbrokes’ betting app, available for both Android and iOS.

In November 2016, Ladbrokes acquired the Coral Group, changed its name to Ladbrokes Coral Group PLC and became Britain’s biggest bookmaker.

Then in December 2017 Ladbrokes Coral was bought by GVC Holdings, now known as Entain, an international sports betting and gambling company listed on the FTSE100.

Entain owns other brands including Coral, Partypoker and Sportingbet.

Sign Up offer

Let’s kick off our Ladbrokes’ review by checking out the Ladbrokes sign up offer, including what you can claim, how to claim it, and other info that makes sure you get the most out of it.

The sign-up offer

New UK customers can claim a welcome offer of 4x £5 = £20 in free bets, to use on sports when they open a new account, deposit at least £5 or more, and wager at least that amount across qualifying bet(s) at odds of at least 1.5.

In line with current welcome offers in the industry, this one is roughly standard, following the popular ‘Bet X Get Y’ format. Some betting sites are a little more generous, others less so.

Notable terms and conditions

  • Customers who make a deposit using Prepaid Cards, Moneybookers, InstantBank, PayPal, Paysafe, Neteller or Skrill won’t be eligible to receive the offer.
  • The qualifying bet can be as a single bet at odds of 1.5 (1/2) or greater or as an accumulator. If it’s an accumulator, all legs of it must be at odds of 1/5 (1/2).
  • The qualifying bet must be placed within 14 days of opening your account; the free bets must be used within 7 days of them being awarded to you.
  • If the bet wins, only the profit from it is awarded to you, not the stake itself.

How to claim your welcome bonus

  • Register an account at Ladbrokes and deposit, remembering to avoid certain payment methods.
  • Place a single or acca for at least £5 at odds of at least 1.5 within 14 days of opening the account.
  • Use your £20 to place 4x £5 free bets within 7 days of being awarded them.

Pro Tip: Given you won’t be refunded your stake on winning bets, it could pay to be slightly more adventurous with your free bets. So rather than winning two bets at odds of 1.5 and just receiving £5 in profit in total, you’re better off having four bets at say 5.0, hope that one (or more) wins and pocketing at least £20 in profit.

Betting Odds

Our Ladbrokes review moves on to looking at specific features of their product that will give you more choice, more value, or more flexibility when it comes to your Ladbrokes betting. Here are four of the best.

In-Play betting

Bet until the very end of an event at ever-changing odds.

Cash Out Betting

Guarantee yourself a profit before the event is over or get part of your stake back on bets that are likely to go on to lose. Ladbrokes boasts partial Cash Out features, giving you greater choice of what profits to take and which bets to let ride.

Bet Builder

Combine selections from the same match in an acca.

Livestreaming

Watch live horseracing, tennis and other sports while you bet in-play. You just need to have an active and funded account.

Mobile App

Like with any modern betting site these days, the Ladbrokes betting app available for mobile users is a more than adequate alternative to using your laptop, or desktop.

The app allows you to place bets, Cash Out, take advantage of bonuses and other promos, and withdraw your money. The other big advantage here is that you can use the app to livestream your favourite sports events with great quality pictures and little or no time delays, assuming the internet connection is strong.

It’s quick and easy-to-use, in some ways even quicker than the desktop version.

The mobile app works on both Android or iOS devices, though the process for downloading them is slightly different. Check out our special betting apps page to see how to download the app in Android or iOS.

Customer Support

No two customers are the same, meaning that what might work smoothly for one customer, may not work so well for another.

To avoid having to waste time in terms of getting in touch directly with an agent, your first port of the call should be checking the FAQs.

FAQs

Ladbrokes have divided their FAQs into around 20 different categories, such as: Withdrawals, Deposits, Promotions and Bonuses, Registration and Account Access.

Within each category, you’ll find 5-6 of the most frequently-asked questions to do with that topic. For example, under Withdrawals, some of the questions are: How long do withdrawals take? Why was my withdrawal request cancelled? Or are there any fees for withdrawals?

It’s a similar story for all the other categories. So chances are that you’ll find the relevant question to your problem, with an easy-to-understand answer, sometimes featuring a helpful video, that will have you on your way in no time.

Live Chat

If you found a relevant FAQ but the answer didn’t directly address the question or you still weren’t able to solve the issue, your next step could be to speak to someone on Live Chat.

The FAQs section will have a button taking you to the ‘Contact Us’ section where Live Chat is the fourth of five options available.

Click on it, Live Chat will appear and you’re good to go in terms of speaking directly to a Ladbrokes Customer Service agent.

Telephone

If you’d rather speak on the phone, just dial (from the UK) 0800 731 6191, the line for general queries. You’ll then be asked to select from a number of topics what category your query comes under so the Customer Service agent is well-placed to help you.

E-mail

If the FAQ didn’t answer your question, you can choose to send an e-mail instead.

From the Contact Us page, just click on the e-mail icon, the last of the five, and proceed to fill out the template.

Enter a few personal details (first name, date of birth etc) so they can identify you and then describe your question, giving as much detail about your query as possible.

You can include screenshots of error messages, or drag and drop a file from your computer to help further explain the query.

Social Media Direct Message

The final option available to you when looking to get a query answered is to get in touch with Ladbrokes by sending them a direct message via Twitter, or Instagram.

With social media being such an important aspect of a betting site’s business these days, you may well find that with an average response time of 5-10 minutes, this could be one of the most efficient ways of solving your problem.

Deposit/Withdrawal Options

Here’s what you need to know about the deposit and withdrawal options, minimum and maximum deposits and waiting times.

Method Minimum deposit Minimum withdrawal Withdrawal Time
Debit card £5 £5 1-3 working days

  • No cryptocurrencies accepted; UK customers can no longer use credit cards at betting sites.

Ladbrokes in the Media

#1 – Entain says Ladbrokes and other UK betting sites will abandon unregulated markets

Ladbrokes parent company Entain says Ladbrokes and other betting sites they own such as Coral will aim to jump ship from operating in unregulated markets by the end of the year. Entain say it’s not worth their while to operate in markets that aren’t nationally regulated and predict the impact on their revenues will be minimal.

#2 – ASA and Ladbrokes disagree over Premier League ad

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) banned a promoted posted Tweet used by Ladbrokes about whether out-of-form Premier League players such as Philippe Coutinho or Jesse Lingard would bounce back from their current poor form.

The ASA argued that featuring Premier League players in it would make it appeal to children, thus falling foul of its own rules.

Ladbrokes countered by saying that Twitter was only accessible to those aged 18 or over and they therefore did nothing wrong. Noting that the Twitter age argument alone wasn’t enough to get Ladbrokes off the hook, the ASA upheld the complaint.

FAQ

Ladbrokes offers the full range of betting products beyond a Sportsbook. There’s also Poker, Bingo, Casino, Live Casino, Game Show-style betting and virtual sports to bet on

You sure can. PayPal is available to do both, is one of the quickest withdrawal methods and is free to use when it comes to getting your money in and out.

It certainly is and applies to all bets placed on UK and Ireland horseracing every day. But in addition to that, it’s also available on all UK and Ireland greyhound racing, one of very few companies to offer it on the dogs, as well as the horses.

Not anymore. For a period of 8 years, they hosted the Betdaq betting exchange, meaning that both users of Ladbrokes and Betdaq could use the same exchange on either site. But Betdaq’s owners eventually bought it back and Ladbrokes no longer has one.
